Today, circumcision is not only deeply controversial but there are also social activists doing their best to have it banned via legislation. The Royal Dutch Medical Association in the Netherlands called for a ban on circumcision in 2010, stating that it is "medically unnecessary and violates children's rights." What does God say about this? Would you be surprised to find out the command to circumcise is as relevant today as it was when He first instructed Abraham to do it? Many cite Paul to justify why it is not relevant for Gentile believers but this is a typical misreading of Paul. Reading Paul in his Jewish context sets the record straight. This command is full of blessing, for the Jew first and also the Gentiles.
