Invited to Rule and Reign

Jesus’ death on the cross was the atonement for our sins, securing the redemption of our lives. His resurrection was for our empowerment, enabling us to rule and reign with Him. Yet these profound truths were not immediately grasped by His disciples in the days and weeks following His death and resurrection. This may help explain why He remained with them for forty days before ascending to His heavenly throne. During that time, He appeared to them, spoke with them, and ministered among them so they might more fully understand the meaning of His death and resurrection.
